Learn what academic documents you can access online if you are currently enrolled or completed your study at the University from June 2010 onwards, including those who did not complete their course, and how to gain access to them.
St Andrews Academic Documents offers a convenient way to obtain, store and share essential University documents, whilst protecting them against fraud.
The services allows you to:
- access records securely online using digital document viewing
- share your documents with third parties like employers, verification agencies or other institutions
- use QR code verification to ensure authenticity
- request paper copies of digital documents

Unofficial PDF
Current students may generate an unofficial PDF of their student record for personal reference. To access this, please go into MySaint > My Grades > Full Record > downloads.
These documents are not official and should not be used for verification purposes. Official academic documents must be accessed and shared via the St Andrews Academic Documents platform.

Important information about transcript formats
From September 2026, the University will no longer provide official transcripts in PDF format. All official academic documents should be accessed and shared via the St Andrews Academic Documents platform.
St Andrews Academic Documents offers a convenient way to obtain, store and share essential University documents, whilst protecting them against fraud.
The services allows you to:
- access records securely online using digital document viewing
- share your documents with third parties like employers, verification agencies or other institutions
- use QR code verification to ensure authenticity
- request paper copies of digital documents
Document availability
Document availability depends on your course and registration or progression status.
Available documents include:
- digital degree certificates – secure, verifiable proof of awarded degrees once programme has been completed
- academic transcripts – official records of academic performance
- Higher Education Achievement Report, where applicable
- eligible to graduate letter, where applicable
- degree confirmation letter, where applicable
You can view and share your degree certificate and Higher Education Achievement report, where available. All other documents can be downloaded where available. For official purposes, documents should be accessed and shared through the digital document platform.
To protect the integrity of your academic records:
- Documents may be downloaded a maximum of five times throughout your programme of study. We recommend retaining previously downloaded copies and reusing them where possible.
- It is your responsibility to store and share downloaded documents securely
- Documents cannot be printed through the platform.
If a paper version of your transcripts is required, it can be purchased this through St Andrews Academic Documents. A fee is applicable.

Changes to terms and conditions
Downloaded academic documents are official records issued by the University. Any attempt to alter, forge or misuse these documents is strictly prohibited and may constitute fraud. The University reserves the right to share relevant information with law enforcement and related third parties for the purposes of fraud prevention.
Access your documents as a current student
You must use your University email address to log in to St Andrews Academic Documents.

A single payment of £20 gives you access to all eligible documents.
Users who do not see their documents immediately should wait one working day before contacting [email protected].
Status letter
Registered full-time students can get a status letter using the self-service task on MySaint. If the task is not available, email [email protected] to request your letter.
Your status letter will be sent to your University email address.
Access your documents as a previous student
If you have previously completed your programme at the University, you can access your official academic records online by registering with the St Andrews Academic Documents service, unless you have previously registered for the service.
If you are already registered, you'll need to transfer your account to your personal email address.
- Go to St Andrews Academic Documents
- Click Register/Transfer. You will need to provide the following information to register:
- Student ID
- St Andrews email address (this only applies if you were previously registered with St Andrews Academic Documents)
- Known as name
- Date of birth
- Your current address
- New personal email details
After completing the registration process, you will need to verify your personal email account. The system will send you an email with information on the next steps.
A single payment of £20 gives you access to all eligible documents.
Security requirements
As part of the registration process, you will need to complete biometric verification and set up mandatory multifactor authentication (MFA). These measures are essential to protect the integrity of your academic records.
- Biometric verification ensures that only you can access your documents.
- MFA adds an extra layer of security beyond passwords.
Together, these steps significantly reduce the risk of identity theft, fraud and unauthorised access.
